According to the Arizona Department of Education’s 2023 report, there are over 136,000 students in public schools who fall under special education categories. This figure does not include those eligible for section 504 services or who attend private, homeschool, or micro-school learning environments.
Research conducted by organizations such as the National Longitudinal Transition Study-2 (NLTS2), established that a significant proportion of students with disabilities do pursue post-secondary education or training programs. However, they often encounter challenges related to academic preparedness, accessibility of support services, and financial constraints. Additionally, despite the increasing number of individuals requiring exceptional student services, there has been a decrease of over 17 percent in qualified special education teachers in recent years, and both federal and state disability programs remain significantly underfunded.
To bridge this gap, True Genius Education Services, Inc. provides highly qualified special educators and allies to help exceptional students achieve great outcomes. TGES believes that with proper resources, exceptional students can reach their full potential. (Source: Council for Exceptional Children, 2023)
