What behavioral health services do you provide?
At this time, TGES offers counseling solely for educational needs and does not provide services or testing for mental health conditions such as emotional disturbances, conduct disorders, OCD, or any other mental health therapies.
My child attends a private school and has an ISP vs. an IEP or 504. How does this transfer once they enroll into a public school?
If a child is eligible for an ISP at a private school, they may also be eligible for either an IEP or 504 plan when they transition to a public school. However, every situation is different. Please give us a call to discuss further.
My child has an IEP, ISP, or 504 and has been placed on a wait list for open enrollment at a public school, what should we do?
To clarify, public schools are not allowed to put exceptional students on a waitlist unless all enrolling students are also waitlisted. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact us for further discussion.
Can TGES legally represent me in a dispute with my child’s school?
We would like to clarify that the advocacy service offered by TGES is not a legal service. Nonetheless, our advocate is knowledgeable in the regulations of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and Section 504, and can provide efficient advocacy for any issues related to these two educational regulations.
What happens to my child’s IEP, ISP, or 504 plan once they go to college or trade school?
If a student is eligible for an IEP or 504 plan in high school, they may be eligible for certain services at colleges, universities, and trade schools. However, every situation is different, so feel free to contact us to discuss your specific circumstances.
What is Post-Secondary Education and Outcomes?
Post-secondary education refers to the level of education that comes after the completion of high school. It includes universities, colleges, vocational or trade schools, as well as entering the workforce.
What is proportionate share?
Public schools are required to offer proportionate share services to private school students who are eligible for an IEP. The specific services offered may differ depending on the school district in which your child is enrolled. Contact us today to learn more.
What is ESA?
The Empowerment Scholarship Account (ESA) is offered to specific families in Arizona, providing funding to eligible students for educational opportunities beyond the public school system. Complete information about the program is available on the Arizona Department of Education website.
Can I use the ESA account to donate to your program?
Families with a student that has an Empowerment Scholarship Account will be charged a standard enrollment fee vs. requesting the families make a donations to TGES. The ESA can not be used to pay for any charitable donations.
Do you provide ABA therapy for children or young adults on the Autism spectrum?
Currently, TGES does not offer any ABA therapy services. However, we are available for an initial intake for educational consulting and can assist you in finding a suitable program for both you and your child.
What does IEP, ISP, and 504 plan mean?
An Individualized Education Program (IEP) outlines the specialized education instruction, support, and services that an eligible child requires to succeed in school in the least restrictive environment. On the other hand, a 504 plan is created to ensure academic success and access to the learning environment. An Individualized Service Plan (ISP) is a plan similar to an IEP or 504 that is provided to private school students who are eligible for services.
Can you diagnose my child with any disabilities after you complete an assessment with them?
TGES does not provide diagnoses for learning or behavioral health disabilities for children or young adults. However, our certified assessment specialist can conduct academic and cognitive assessments to help identify potential concerns and provide referrals to licensed professionals for further diagnosis if necessary.
Can one of your team members attend my child’s IEP or 504 meeting?
Certainly, TGES professionals can attend meetings if their schedule permits.
